Why We Founded Sambright:
Ending Kenya's Diluted Paint Crisis.
Paint is not cosmetic decoration; it is your building's primary defensive shield against sun, rain, and fungal rot. Here is the unvarnished story of why we do things differently.
The Industry Shortcut That Ruined Thousands of Kenyan Homes
Across Kenya, an unspoken shortcut plagues residential and commercial construction: subcontractors routinely thin premium paint by 30% to 50% with water.
When painters water down a 20-litre bucket of Weatherguard or Silk Vinyl, they make cheap bids look attractive. But water destroys the resin binder matrix that gives paint its tensile strength and UV resistance. The consequences are immediate and painful:
- Chalking & Fading: Within 8 to 12 months, ultraviolet radiation breaks down the fragile resin, leaving a powdery chalk on your hands.
- Rain-Induced Peeling: During the April and November rains, water penetrates the thin film, causing huge sheets of exterior paint to peel from masonry.
- Costly Repainting Cycles: Property owners find themselves paying for scaffolding, labor, and new paint every 18 months instead of enjoying a 10-year finish.
Sambright Investment Limited was established at Bypass Ruiru Membley (along Thika Road) with a radical commitment to Kenyan property owners: we will never over-thin paint. Ever.

Painting is Chemistry Applied to Architecture
We treat building finishing as an engineering discipline. Every coat applied by Sambright adheres to three non-negotiable scientific protocols:
Electronic Moisture Meter Testing
We never apply primer over wet or damp plaster. Our foremen run calibrated digital moisture meters on exterior masonry and interior screed. If moisture levels exceed 12%, work is paused until the wall is cured, completely preventing trapped damp and salt blistering.
Zero-Dilution Chemistry
Every bucket of Crown Weatherguard, DuraCoat, or Plascon is opened in front of the site supervisor. Thinning is strictly limited to manufacturer guidelines (maximum 5-10% water on the preparatory mist coat only, zero on subsequent topcoats). This ensures full film opacity and 8+ years longevity.
Multi-Pass Plaster Skimming
For interior living rooms, bedrooms, and executive suites, rough sand-cement plaster is skimmed with two to three passes of fine filler compound, then mechanically sanded to 240-grit. The result is a glass-smooth surface with zero roller marks or shadows under lighting.

From Bypass Ruiru Membley to 17 Counties Across Kenya
What began along Thika Road at Bypass Ruiru Membley has expanded across 17+ counties in Kenya. Today, Sambright’s mobile painting squads regularly mobilize to:
When you hire Sambright for a villa in Karen or Membley, a plaza in Westlands, or an academy in Eldoret, you don't get casual day-laborers. You get our permanent, insured master applicators under the supervision of a dedicated on-site foreman.
